Time Zones

Why is it important to know about times zones in America and other parts of the world?

I think it is important to know what time zone you might want to call a family member in another time zone and you might call in a very late or early time. Or if you want to catch a train or a bus in a specific time and your watch is not in the right time you could miss it.

oil spill in China 1/04/10

the dramatic oil spill that happened in China not too long ago polluted the Yellow River. the Yellow River is one of many sources of water. it seems that the metal pipeline started to leak out diesel oil last Thursday, they have been working on the pipe ever since.  when the oil started to leak, the managers had to make sure that every one around that community to stay away/ do not drink the water because it has harmful chemicals that could destroy your body. this effects my life because what if someone heard that the water was harmful but it was too late because he or she already drank it. well, i do’t know… here is the website where i got my information.    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/04/world/asia/04china.html?scp=2&sq=china&st=cse

Childs steps up 12/14/09

a child in Yemen,(only 10 years old!) named Nujood Ali is a divorced child that wanted a divorced from her 20 year old husband.  it took Nujood a lot of  months to divorce and live free from her husband. after that incident she used her fame and fortune to help other people/children to get divorced if they wanted to. like one year and a half ago, she helped a 12 year old get divorced from a 21 year old. i like this person because she is helping most of the children that are in need and need to get on with their lives and marry someone that she thinks is right. why would grown ups marry a little child, it makes no sense, but you can’t change how they feel. you could find this article at…

Science- brain tumor discovery

this article was very interesting because this article shows that treating a brain tumor with multiple sessions appears to cause the brain less swelling than treating the tumor once with a dose of radiation. this is really interesting to me because i would think that lots of medication to one tumor would make the brain swell and the little dose of radiation wouldn’t do much but apparently it was the other way around. i received this information at… http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/11/091103215835.htm

suicide bomber kills six-ARTICLE 9/21

Ancient Sun Temple was found in Cairo

The ancient sun temple is believed to be the greatest. when they found it, they found large statues that are believe to be Ramses II. Archaeologists found the temple under an outdoor marketplace called Souq al-Khamis.  The statues that were found in the sun temple were so unique that one statue that was made out of pink granite, weighing 4 to 5 tons!!! the temple also had green floors but the archaeologists don’t know if  it is green pavement or if it is just very, very dirty! i found all of this information on….

all living organisms have billions of cells that contain DNA. DNA tells you who you are and basically your identity.  Cells are so old that they were very close to being the oldest thing in the world. everything has cells, even you and me!!!

Bombs in Baghdad

in Baghdad, Iraq a bombing occurred outside of a peaceful home. sadly the bomb killed two children and their mother.
